I believe my refiner told me that he gets about 22 cents per gal markup.

Crude oil constitutes about 60% of the cost of gas. I don't know the profit margin of the oil producers, though.

It costs us about $6.50 a barrel to get crude out of the ground in Oaklhoma and the market price that we get is over $80

A markup of $73.50 a barrel profit $1.75 per gallon.
All taxes together comes to much less than that.

A service station that sells you the gas is lucky to make 6 or 7 Cents a gallon.

Nothing comes even close to crude production.

Crude oil production. At about 40 gallons of gasoline from a barrel of crude, with crude about $70 per barrel, it's contribution to a gallon of gazs is about $1.75. That's bigger than any other contribution to the cost.
